We actively work with the community to achieve the highest possible level of Mental Health for all by, Enabling people to participate in identifying community mental health needs and responding appropriately, Developing equal, caring services for people having difficulty coping with everyday life, and those with psychiatric illness and intellectual disability, Creating public awareness of mental health issues, and Striving for recognition and protection of mental health rights, We aspire to contribute to a just and fair Society.
Achievements
We were one of 3 Award Winning Organizations in South Africa to receive an Award from the Ashoka Innovators for the Public for the Best Practice Model for Sustainability Strategies in the NGO Sector.
We were awarded a Silver Award for Innovative Work from the Impumelelo Innovations Awards Trust for our contribution in the Fields of Poverty Alleviation and Community Development in the Country.
The Provincial Department of Health, responded to our need for a substantial subsidy rate increase for 16 of our Projects that are subsidized by the Department. We were delighted that the Department had extended the new subsidy rate to every Mental Health Project in KwaZulu-Natal.
We were selected for an award by the Department of Social Welfare and Population Development for reaching out to communities in poverty projects and transformation of services at an Awards ceremony held and was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation.
At the S.A. Federation for Mental Health Board of Management Meeting held in Johannesburg we were selected and presented with a Special Achievement Award.
